In the women's league, former league champions Prisons Kenya, reeling from failing to medal in the league, made easy work of silver medalist Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in straight sets of 3-0(25-15,25-13,25-19) at the Moi International Sports Centre Indoor Arena Kasarani.
The victory was sweet revenge for the warders who lost to the Investigators in the semis of the league playoffs.
In the best-of-three semis, DCI picked two wins to reach their first ever final, losing to eventual champions Kenya Pipeline.
The Josp Barasa-led Prisons had lost a match that they led two sets in the semis.
Up against bankers KCB, the warders raced to a 25-18 and 25-23 start.
However, KCB came back to book a final berth with a 3-2(18-25,23-25,25-18,25-22 and 15-4) performance.
On their part, DCI, up against Pipeline in a repeat of the league final, lost by straight sets.
Pipeline finished the job in a 3-0(26-24,25-15,26-24) outcome.
Meanwhile, KPA, who had hoped to put their league woes behind them for a chance at the Cup title were stunned by Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in a five-set semis thriller, to be relegated to the classification clash.
Up against Prisons Kenya, who lost in the semis to reigning league champions General Service Unit (GSU), the Mombasa-based Dockers had a good start, going ahead in the opening two sets before Prisons mounted a comeback in a tightly contested third set that ended 38-36.
It was, however, never to be as the Sammy Mulinge-led side put the game to rest in the fourth quarter for a 3-1(27-25,25-16,36-38,25-19)victory that saw them earn their second medal of the season. Prison settled for fourth and were awarded Ksh75,000 courtesy of Mozzart Bet.
